Well-known advertising guru Jerry Della Femina threw his hat into the political ring in a run for East Hampton Village Trustee in 1996. Fearing a Madison Avenue-style media blitz from Mr. Della Femina's New York City ad agency, the incumbent East Hampton Village Trustees hired Mullen & McCaffrey to level the playing field. M&M produced an oversized full-color brochure and mailed it to every household in East Hampton Village. A coordinated newspaper and radio campaign reinforced numerous other mailings. Happily for all, Mr. Della Femina is still in advertising and the incumbent Trustees are still in office.
